A Family Rooted in Winemaking
For four generations, the Luca family has been synonymous with Moldovan winemaking,Our story, however, is one of resilience and a deep-seated passion that transcends hardship.
The Deportation and Nationalization
In 1949, tragedy struck our family. During the Soviet regime, our ancestors were forcibly taken from their home in Moldova and sent to labor camps in Siberia.
This brutal act not only shattered our family but also led to the nationalization of all our properties, including the cherished Luca winery.
Five Decades Under the Soviet Regime
The following five decades under Soviet rule presented an insurmountable obstacle to private ownership. Despite these hardships, the spirit of winemaking remained alive within our family.
Our father, Ion Luca, unwavering in his dedication to the craft, poured his heart and soul into working at the state-run Cricova winery.
There, he achieved remarkable results, showcasing his exceptional talent and unwavering passion.
